Agent Skills: 78 verified packs, catalogues, registries and individual skills, last checked 2026-09-24. Every one is free files under an open licence — no card, no account.
An agent skill is a folder of instructions and scripts that teaches an agent a workflow it was not trained on: how to render and check a PDF, how to deploy to Vercel, how to repair a failing CI job. Unlike an MCP server, a skill adds no moving part — no process to run, no token to hold, no network service to keep alive. It is just files, which is precisely why skills have spread faster than any other agent primitive.
That ease of distribution is why this category needed more verification than any other here. Registries that render in the browser answer HTTP 200 for every URL, invented ones included, so a link checker cannot tell a real skill from a fake one — confirming anything means reading an API or a repository's file listing. One submitted list of 25 registry entries held 11 that existed and 14 that did not, and seven of those 14 turned out to exist in a different registry. Four OpenAI skills circulating widely exist at no path at all — a .docx editor, a spreadsheet skill, Sora video and a web-game builder — and image generation exists only as a system skill that ships inside Codex.
So this page lists two things. Packs, catalogs and registries, one row each and never expanded into their contents, because openai/plugins alone holds 536 skills and ClawHub holds thousands. And individual skills, one row each, listed only where someone named that specific skill and it verified on its own, with the pack it belongs to recorded. Every install command below was run before it was written down. Skills are files, so nothing here asks for a card, a key or an account.

npx skills add alirezarezvani/claude-skills
packcommunityclaude-code · codex · cursor · gemini-cli · any
388 skills, being the 846 SKILL.md files in the repository tree minus 458 that are mirrors under .gemini/ — 369 skill names appear twice for that reason. The README says '380+' and the skills CLI lists 367, so the true figure sits in that range; 388 is the number the tree supports once mirrors are excluded.
MIT licensed, 26,387 stars, and actively maintained — the largest community pack here after obra/superpowers.
Breadth is the point and also the risk: 388 skills in one repository means most of them are not for you, and a pack this size is a lot of third-party instruction to hand an agent. Install individual skills (--skill <name>) rather than the whole library.

The repository tree holds 19 skills plus a template directory; the largest skills project by a wide margin and the reference implementation of the format.
`npx skills add anthropics/skills` was verified by running it — the skills CLI lists and installs this pack like any other source.
Individual skills carry their own licences, so check the subfolder rather than assuming the repository licence covers everything.

Five skills, counted from the tree. Apify has a monthly free credit allowance that covers light scraping; for a purely free path with no account, pair it with Firecrawl's free tier or the Playwright skill instead.
An open catalogue of browser-automation skills keyed by site: each entry names a domain, a skill and the method that reaches it, so an agent can ask what is already known about a site before writing a scraper from scratch.
npm i -g browse
packregistryany
Published by the Browserbase team; the CLI is the npm package `browse` ("Unified Browserbase CLI for browser automation and cloud APIs"), which we confirmed exists under Browserbase maintainers.
No count is claimed here: the catalogue is not exposed by a public API and the page does not state a size, so unlike the other registries in this file there is nothing to verify against.
Entries read like `sam.gov · contract-opportunity-search · api` — a domain, the job and how to reach it.

The skills and plugins registry for OpenClaw — 942 skills from verified publishers in the feed ClawHub publishes, sitting in front of a much larger open catalogue of community uploads.
Skills
942
packregistryopenclaw · any
The 942 counted here are the entries in ClawHub's own feed at /v1/feeds/skills (edition of 2026-09-24), which covers skills from verified publishers. It is the figure the registry publishes.
The open catalogue behind that feed is far larger and is not counted here: walking the site's listing API passed 12,892 unique slugs without finishing, and that endpoint is disallowed by the site's own robots.txt — so the open catalogue has no permitted, enumerable source and gets no number.
Skills install with `openclaw skills install @owner/slug`, verified against OpenClaw's documentation.
A skill URL cannot be checked with a status code: every /skills/<slug> page answers HTTP 200, invented slugs included. Checking one by hand works through the API instead — /api/v1/skills/<slug> returns 404 when a slug does not exist, 409 AMBIGUOUS_SKILL_SLUG when several owners share it, which is why @owner/slug is the only unambiguous reference.
Size and usage are different numbers: the top packages sit in the 100k–480k download range and most listings show none at all.
Includes a large Chinese-language catalogue alongside English packages.

Four skills, all four independently present in the skills.sh registry with roughly 6,900–7,100 installs each. Small repository, but it teaches design decisions (role, goal, guardrails, task dependencies) rather than API calls.
Sets up and operates Dedalus Machines: a persistent Linux sandbox an agent can reach over SSH, run remote code in, or host a temporary service from, including CLI authentication and API base URL configuration.
Published on the vendor docs domain through a .well-known endpoint rather than a Git repository — the skills CLI discovers it there, which we confirmed by running the install command with --list.

The repository now lives at microsoft/skills; the older microsoft/agent-skills path redirects to it, which is the link most aggregator lists still carry.
Counted from the tree: 204 SKILL.md files, 191 under .github/plugins and 13 under .github/skills. The README separately advertises 175 skills, so the two figures do not agree and the tree is the one we can check.
Scope is Azure SDKs and Microsoft Foundry, not the Bot Framework or Cognitive Services as aggregator descriptions have it. Marked work in progress by Microsoft; `npx skills add microsoft/skills` verified by running it.

npx skills add vercel-labs/agent-skills

Moved from degraded to active: the registry has a public search API at skills.sh/api/search?q= that returns skill ids with install counts, which is how every skills.sh entry in this file was verified. The site's own pages still return HTTP 200 for any path, so only the API can confirm a skill exists.
/api/v1/skills requires a Vercel OIDC token, so the search endpoint is the usable one.
The CLI that powers it is open source (vercel-labs/skills, 32,380 stars) and `npx skills add <source> --skill <name>` was verified by running it against seven sources, including packs outside Vercel's own.
Install counts are lopsided: vercel-labs/skills/find-skills showed 3,539,754 installs against roughly 7,000 for CrewAI's four skills and a few hundred for smaller packs.
An agent-skills marketplace indexing Codex and Claude skills, with browsing by creator and occupation.
packregistryclaude-code · codex · any
Moved from degraded to active: its current URL scheme returns honest 404s. /creators/<owner>/<repo>/<skill> resolves for real skills and 404s for invented ones, in both cases tested.
The older /skills/<slug> URLs that circulate in aggregator posts are dead — they return a page titled 'Legacy skill URL not found'.
The site advertises 200,000+ skills. That is its own claim: there is no public API and the catalogue is not enumerable in a way we could count, so no skill_count is stated here.
Much of what it indexes mirrors public GitHub repositories, so the canonical copy usually lives on GitHub rather than here.

An agent skill is a folder of instructions and scripts that teaches an agent a workflow it was not trained on — how to lay out a PDF, deploy to Vercel, or repair a failing CI job. Unlike an MCP server it adds no process and no network service: it is just files, which is why skills spread quickly.
How do I install an agent skill?
For most packs, one command: npx skills add <owner>/<repo> --skill <name>. Packs published by Anthropic, OpenAI, Vercel, CrewAI and Browserbase all install this way, and every install command in this catalogue was executed before it was written down.
Are agent skills free?
Yes — every skill catalogued here is free files under an open licence. Some skills call a paid service once installed, so this catalogue pairs each vendor pack with the vendor's own free tier where one exists.
How can I tell whether a skill really exists?
Do not trust a URL status code. ClawHub and skills.sh return HTTP 200 for any path, including invented ones, so a link checker cannot distinguish a real skill from a fake. Verification for this catalogue used registry APIs and repository file listings, where fabricated skills return honest 404s.
