MCP Servers

64 entries · verified 2026-09-24 · schema mcp-server.schema.json

MCP Servers: 64 verified servers, 24 of which need no authentication, last checked 2026-09-24. Each entry carries a copy-paste install command and its transport.

Model Context Protocol servers are how an agent reaches the outside world — files, databases, browsers, tickets, payments. The official registry lists what exists; this page tells you what each server actually needs before you run it: the install command, the transport, and whether it wants a token, a connection string or nothing at all.

The signal most directories miss is maintenance. Several widely-recommended servers (Postgres, Slack, Puppeteer, Brave Search) were archived during 2025–2026 and are still recommended all over the web. They are listed here as deprecated, each paired with the maintained server that replaced it.

Start with the reference servers and Context7 if you are new to MCP; if you already have a stack, filter to official servers and check the authentication column before granting an agent access to anything that matters.

Context7

context7-mcp

Version-pinned, up-to-date documentation for thousands of libraries — the single highest-value server for coding agents.

stars
62,381
npx -y @upstash/context7-mcp

✅ no authcommunity

Works without a key at low volume; an API key raises the rate limit. The most-installed MCP server on npm.

GitHub MCP Server

github-mcp

Repo automation, PRs, issues, code search and CI workflows — the most-starred MCP server in the ecosystem.

docker run -i --rm -e GITHUB_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN ghcr.io/github/github-mcp-server

🔑 GitHub PAT (fine-grained, read-only works)official

A hosted remote variant is available at https://api.githubcopilot.com/mcp/ if you would rather not run Docker.

Framelink Figma MCP

figma-mcp

Pulls design tokens, layout and component structure out of Figma files into the editor, over stdio, using a personal access token.

npx -y figma-developer-mcp --figma-api-key=<token>

🔑 Figma personal access tokencommunity

Renamed from 'Figma MCP' to name its maintainer: this is the community Framelink server, not Figma's own. For the first-party server see figma-mcp-server.

Works over stdio with a personal access token, so it needs no OAuth dance and no Figma desktop app — which is why people still reach for it over the official remote server.

Postgres MCP Pro

postgres-mcp

Read-only-safe Postgres access with index tuning and health checks — the maintained replacement for the archived reference server.

stars

uvx postgres-mcp --access-mode=restricted

🔑 Postgres connection stringcommunity

The original @modelcontextprotocol/server-postgres reference server was archived in 2025 — many guides still tell you to install it.

Figma MCP Server

figma-mcp-server

Figma's own MCP server, hosted at mcp.figma.com over Streamable HTTP. Reads a selected frame's variables, components and layout into the editor, generates code from it, reuses real components through Code Connect and, while in beta, writes native content back to the canvas.

claude mcp add --transport http figma https://mcp.figma.com/mcp

🔑 Figma account (OAuth)official

A hosted remote server rather than a package: https://mcp.figma.com/mcp answers 401 without a token, so there is nothing to install — you add the URL and authenticate.

Free to connect on Figma's free Starter plan, but that plan and View or Collab seats on paid plans are capped at 6 tool calls per month. Dev and Full seats on paid plans get Tier 1 REST API limits instead. This is a real free allowance, not a generous one — the Studio plan at $16/month is what most people will need for daily use.

Writing to the canvas is free during the beta, and Figma has said it will become a usage-based paid feature. Assume it will not stay free.

Also installable as Claude Code and Cursor plugins and as a Gemini CLI extension, which bundle the server config together with the Figma skill pack below.

Wikidata MCP

wikidata-mcp

Semantic and keyword search over Wikidata's ~30M entities and properties, so agents can resolve vague concepts into verifiable QIDs before writing SPARQL.

npx -y mcp-remote https://wd-mcp.wmcloud.org/mcp/

✅ no authofficial

Hosted as a public instance by Wikimedia Deutschland, so there is nothing to install or pay for. Exposes vector_search_items, keyword_search_items and vector_search_properties. Endpoint rejects plain GETs (406) by design — point an MCP client at it rather than curl.

Filesystem

filesystem-mcp

Secure local file operations with configurable allow-listed directories — the reference server every local agent starts with.

Tools
14
npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem /path/to/allowed/dir

✅ no authofficial

Always pass an explicit allow-listed root. Running it on `/` gives an agent write access to your whole machine.

MCP Servers — questions

What is an MCP server?

An MCP server is a small program that exposes tools to an AI assistant through the Model Context Protocol, an open standard originally published by Anthropic. Instead of building a bespoke integration per client, a server declares its tools once and every MCP-capable client — Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex — can use them.

How many MCP servers are listed here?

64 MCP servers are catalogued as of 2026-09-24, of which 49 are maintained by the company whose service they connect to and 24 need no authentication at all. Each entry carries a copy-paste install command and its transport type.

Which MCP servers need no API key?

24 of the 64 servers here run without a key because they operate on your own machine rather than a remote API — filesystem, git, fetch and similar local tools. Remote servers for hosted products necessarily require an account, and the catalogue says which requires what.

Are MCP servers free to use?

The servers themselves are free and mostly open source, because they are small adapters rather than services. What may cost money is the API behind them: a Slack or Stripe MCP server is free to install but acts on an account that has its own pricing. The catalogue keeps those two facts separate.
